High Availability Monitors Version A.04.20.11.05, A.04.20.23.05, and A.04.20.31.07 Release Notes (B5736-90088; March 2011)

The HA Monitors bundle (Part number B5736DA) contains the following file sets that will be installed
on Integrity platform and PA-RISC platform:
• EMS-MIBMon — The MIB (Management Information Base) monitors for cluster, networking
interface, and system resources
• EMS-DskMon — Disk monitor for physical and logical volume resources configured by LVM
• EMS-DBMon — Database monitor for MIB resources
EMS and EMS HA Monitors Patch Strategy
HA Monitors (B5736DA) and EMS Framework (EventMonitoring) are in support mode for all
releases of HP-UX 11i. There will be no patches for any release of HA Monitors. There will be no
new enhancements and features. Only defects with severity level above 8 or defects related to
security issues would be fixed.
As and when required HA Monitors will provide defect fixes via AR/OEUR media. In case of
critical defects in HA Monitors, that impair the system/dependent product functioning, the fix will
be made available via Web Release, which happens once every month. The fix will be made
available as an installable product upgrade and can be downloaded from the HP Software Depot
website at https://h20392.www2.hp.com/portal/swdepot/
try.do?productNumber=EventMonitoring. Such fixes will be included in the HA Monitors product
on the AR/OEUR media at a minimum of once each year.
In the support mode the following is applicable:
• No new EMS Monitors will be developed. Customers are encouraged to develop WBEM
provider based monitors using the SysFaultMgmt framework rather than developing EMS
monitors.
• Monitoring for new platforms will be accomplished through WBEM based monitoring only
using the SysFaultMgmt Product.
• EMS Developers Kit will no longer be shipped with HP-UX 11i v3.
For HP-UX 11i v3 you can download the latest templates from the HP Software Depot website
at http://www.hp.com/go/softwaredepot. In the main page of the Software Depot, select
High Availability under Product Category. In the High Availability page that opens, select
Event Monitoring Service (EMS) Developer's Kit. The templates are listed in the Developer’s Kit
page. Instructions are provided with the templates. To download the templates, click the
Receive for Free button at the top or the bottom of the page. Select HP-UX 11.23 version
A.04.20 when you select the product Specifications.
