High Availability Monitors Version A.04.10 Release Notes Announcement Announcement High Availability Monitors (B5736DA) A.04.10 is being released for use on the Itanium-2 based platform and PA-RISC platform with the HP-UX 11i v2 operating system. The following high availability monitors are included in this bundle: • HA Disk Monitor - It checks the status of LVM managed disks and detects disconnected buses, power-failed or missing disks, and stale or missing mirrors.
High Availability Monitors Version A.04.10 Release Notes What’s in This Version What’s in This Version The A.04.10 version of High Availability Monitors for HP-UX 11i v2 operating system runs on PA-RISC and Itanium 2-based platforms. HA Monitors contains a suite of monitors. Among them, MIB Monitor is used for monitoring the availability of LAN interface. In HP-UX 11i v2, with introduction of IPv6, there are new interface monitoring MIBs.

To work with HA Monitors using the EMS GUI, perform the following steps: 1. Log on to the system as root. 2. Enter sam in the command-line prompt to invoke SAM. 3. Double click on the Resource Management icon in SAM. 4. Double click on the Event Monitoring Service icon to invoke EMS. 5.

High Availability Monitors Version A.04.10 Release Notes Known Problems and Workarounds Known Problems and Workarounds The following are known problems with the HA Monitors product: JAGae75287: diskmond reports an error when vgchange is working at the same time What is the problem? diskmond might report DOWN status for the resource lv_summary without encountering any LVM or disk failure.
High Availability Monitors Version A.04.10 Release Notes Known Problems and Workarounds Only Oracle database monitored when both Oracle and Informix databases installed on same system • What is the problem? Both Oracle and Informix have their own RDBMS MIB subagents, and each has its own proprietary method of instrumenting the MIB. The HA Database Monitor relies on values in the MIB to monitor the databases and database servers.
High Availability Monitors Version A.04.10 Release Notes Known Problems and Workarounds Resource instance /rdbms/server/peak_connects/ is invalid • What is the problem? peak_connects represents the greatest number of simultaneous connections to the database server since the server started. It is currently is not being incremented. • What is the workaround? Monitor a different resource.

If you want to monitor the management station, then HA Monitors must be installed on the management station also. Compatibility with HP-UX Releases HA Monitors version A.04.10 runs on the HP-UX 11i v2 operating system only.

Before you begin to monitor your database services, you must install the following components: • For Oracle: — Oracle Net8 (for networking) — Oracle Intelligent Agent (for SNMP support) and any patches.

EMS patch will contain HA Monitors patch as well. EMS uses PHSS_ prefix for patches. A new release contains new EMS and EMS HA Monitors features as well as fixes for known problems. For a new release of EMS and EMS HA Monitors, the following is guaranteed: • Full release testing is performed prior to release.
