High Availability Monitors Version A.04.00.01 Release Notes Announcement Announcement High Availability Monitors (B5736DA) A.04.00.01 is being released for use on the Itanium-2 based platform with the HP-UX 11i v2 operating system. The following high availability monitors are included in this bundle: • HA Disk Monitor checks the status of LVM managed disks and detects disconnected buses, power-failed or missing disks, and stale or missing mirrors.
High Availability Monitors Version A.04.00.01 Release Notes What’s in This Version What’s in This Version The A.04.00.01 version of High Availability Monitors for HP-UX 11i v2 operating system runs on the Itanium 2-based platform. HA Monitors contains a suite of monitors. Among them, MIB Monitor is used for monitoring the availability of LAN interface. In HP-UX 11i v2, with introduction of IPv6, there are new interface monitoring MIBs.

To work with HA Monitors using the EMS GUI: • Log on to the system as root and enter sam to open SAM. In SAM, double-click on the Resource Management icon, and then double-click on the Event Monitoring Service icon to invoke EMS. • Use the EMS GUI to configure a monitoring request to warn you before a system failure.

High Availability Monitors Version A.04.00.01 Release Notes Known Problems and Workarounds Only Oracle database monitored when both Oracle and Informix databases installed on same system • What is the problem? Both Oracle and Informix have their own RDBMS MIB subagents, and each has its own proprietary method of instrumenting the MIB. The HA Database Monitor relies on values in the MIB to monitor the databases and database servers.

It is currently is not being incremented. • What is the workaround? Monitor a different resource.

If you want to monitor the management station, then HA Monitors should be installed on the management station also. Compatibility with HP-UX Releases HA Monitors version A.04.00.01 runs on the HP-UX 11i v2 operating system only.

EMS patch will contain HA Monitors patch as well. EMS uses PHSS_ prefix for patches. A new release contains new EMS and EMS HA Monitors features as well as fixes for known problems. For a new release of EMS and EMS HA Monitors, the following is guaranteed: • Full release testing is performed prior to release.

JAGae05308 Problem: When adding monitoring events using EMS GUI, the following error message is displayed: "The selected monitor is not currently available" This usually happens when the event added is the first event. The second attempt to add the event is generally successful.

After system boot or restart of EMS (specifically: restart of p_client and diskmond), persistent monitoring requests for diskmond may be deleted by EMS. Resolution: For disk monitors that are being initialized, registrar now sends RM_NOT_READY signal to the client.
