High Availability Monitors Release Notes

Compatibility with HP-UX Releases
HA Monitors version A.04.20.11.05, A.04.20.23.05, and A.04.20.31.05 runs on HP-UX 11i v1,
HP-UX 11i v2, and HP-UX 11i v3 operating system respectively.
Software Requirements
HA Monitors version A.04.20.11.05, A.04.20.23.05, and A.04.20.31.05 is dependent on Event
Monitoring Service version A.04.20.11.05, A.04.20.23.06, and A.04.20.31.05 respectively. When
you order the HA Monitors product, EMS software and documentation is automatically included.
NOTE: EMS is also included with other monitoring products. If you should install one of these
monitors later, your present EMS software may be replaced with a later version. Documentation
for all versions of EMS is on the HP Technical Documentation website at http://docs.hp.com/
en/ha.html.
Requirements for Serviceguard and Serviceguard Extension for RAC users
When you have ServiceGuard installed and want HA Monitors to be part of a package, specify
the monitor as a package resource dependency when you configure the package.
The following versions of Serviceguard are compatible with version A.04.20.31.05 of HA Monitors.
• HP-UX 11i v3, Serviceguard version A.11.17.00 and later.
• HP-UX 11i v3, Serviceguard Extension for RAC version A.11.17.00 and later.
The following versions of Serviceguard are compatible with version A.04.20.23.05 of HA Monitors.
• HP-UX 11i v2, Serviceguard version A.11.16.00 and later.
• HP-UX 11i v2, Serviceguard Extension for RAC version A.11.16.00 and later.
The following versions of Serviceguard are compatible with version A.04.20.11.05 of HA Monitors.
• HP-UX 11i v1, Serviceguard version A.11.16.00 and later.
• HP-UX 11i v1, Serviceguard Extension for RAC version A.11.16.00 and later.
Requirements for HP OpenView Users
You must configure templates into HP OpenView ITO or NNM to view the status of HA Monitors.
To configure, download the latest templates from the HP Software Depot website at http://
www.hp.com/go/softwaredepot website. In the main page of the Software Depot, select
High Availability under Product Category. In the High Availability page that opens, select Event
Monitoring Service Developer’s Kit. The templates are listed in the Developer’s Kit page.
Instructions are provided with the templates. You can then download the templates by clicking
the Receive for Free button at the bottom of the page.
Requirements for Database Monitor Users
The Database Monitor is supported for the Oracle Enterprise Server version 9.2 and Informix
version 9.3. Before you begin to monitor your database services, you must install the following
components:
• For Oracle:
— Oracle Net9 (for networking)
— Oracle Intelligent Agent (for SNMP support) and any patches.
The HA Database Monitor depends on Oracle Net8 TCP/IP protocol adapter, the Oracle
Intelligent Agent, the Oracle SNMP Master Agent (master_peer and start_peer), the
Oracle database subagent (dbsnmp), the Oracle Listener (tnslsnr), and the values in the
public RDBMS MIB (based on RFC 1697). For more information, please consult the Oracle
