Announcements EMS HA Monitors Version A.02.00 Release Notes 1 Announcements The Event Monitoring Service High Availability Monitors (EMS HA Monitors) product polls system resource status and sends events to an application of your choice based on user-defined criteria. The EMS HA Monitors product enhances your high-availability environment by providing ways to detect loss of redundant resources, thus exposing single points of failure.
What’s in this Version What’s in this Version EMS contains the following: • The disk monitor checks the status of LVM managed disks and detects disconnected busses, power-failed or missing disks, and stale or missing mirrors. It provides summary status for both physical and logical volumes in a volume group as well as individual status for each disk, link and logical volume.
Known Problems and Workarounds Known Problems and Workarounds The following are known problems with the EMS HA Monitors product: • This release of EMS does not support the opcmsg protocol for communicating with IT/Operations. EMS depends on the IT/Operations managed node agent to send messages; that agent is not yet available on HP-UX 11.00. • EMS may not function if you are running name services that do not use /etc/services, such as NIS, DNS, or X.500.
Known Problems and Workarounds • If you are using the disk monitor, the SCSI pass-through driver must be configured into the kernel. If it is not, add spt0 to the /stand/system file and rebuild the kernel. • There is no differentiation between monitor restart notifications due to system reboot and those due to a monitor being restarted. Currently the persistence client (p_client) logs all monitor restarts as RM_RESTART.
