Compatibility Information and Installation

Requirements

The EMS HA Monitors product should be purchased and installed on each node

that you want to monitor. It does not need to be installed on the management station,

unless you also want to monitor it.

EMS can be installed on a running system in multi-user mode. It detects resources to

monitor when the conﬁguration interface starts.

• Use the software management tools in SAM or the swinstall command to

install EMS. For details see Using EMS HA Monitors (P/N B5735-90001).

• The following patches are required with EMS HA Monitors:

• PHSS_10715

This upgrades the SNMP master agent to version 14.x, which is required if

you plan to send events using SNMP traps. After you install this patch, you

need to set the following in the /etc/SnmpAgent.d/snmpd.conf

ﬁle:

get-community-name: public

• PHKL_10443

This includes the spt0 pass through driver, which is necessary if you are

monitoring disks on an NIO bus.

• PHKL_9307

This is a pre-requisite to PHKL_10443.

• Software requirements to run EMS:

• The operating system must be HP-UX 10.20 or greater.

• If you are a licensed MC/ServiceGuard customer using EMS to conﬁgure

resources as package dependencies, you must have MC/ServiceGuard

version A.10.10 or greater. If you do not have this version or greater, consult

the documentation accompanying the latest release of MC/ServiceGuard for

information about obtaining the correct version.

• Hardware required to run EMS:

EMS runs on the HP 9000 series 800.
