A hub or cable failure will be detected as a host bus adapter failure, and a
failover to the second adapter, which is using the remaining good hub and good
cables, will occur.
A controller failure will cause the second controller to take over for the failed
controller. Secure Path will then route the data requests to the second controller.
In all of the previous cases, interruptions to the end user are minimal and in some
cases may not even be noticeable.
Multiple Cluster Configurations with Hubs
Any two of the same basic or enhanced clusters with hubs can be combined into
a single configuration with both clusters accessing the same storage subsystems. A
sample configuration is shown in Figure 1-4. Note in particular that the two clusters
cannot share the same hub and that one cluster is always attached to port 1 on the
controllers and the other cluster is always attached to port 2 on the controllers.
