Figure 1-2 shows a bidirectional DT configuration consisting of two separated
nodes. As in the basic DT configuration, data at the first site is mirrored on a
second storage subsystem at the second site. Two storage systems can communicate
bidirectionally, meaning that a storage system can be used as the primary source for
data and as a destination for data replication. By providing redundant systems and
software, as well as alternate paths for data flow, high availability and disaster
tolerance is achieved with no single point of failure.
