Understanding the Event Monitoring Service

The process is as follows:
1. The system administrator enters the client application, for example,
the EMS GUI or High Availability Clusters area of SAM, to
begin the discovery phase of creating a monitoring request.
The discovery phase, includes identifying the resources to be
monitored and configuring the request. It can be accomplished
through many methods, including:
• EMS GUI
• ServiceGuard
• monconfig utility
• resls or resdata commands
2. The EMS API provides the interface between the client request and
the registrar. There is a one to one correspondence between the client
and registrar.
3. The registrar refers to the dictionary for a list of available resources
and related monitors.
