Chapter 238
An abnormal event message (error) is returned under the following
conditions:
When value is . . . - If this notification option is set, a
non-normal severity occurs when the value changes from FALSE to
TRUE.
For example, if a disk is being monitored, you want notification when
the disk is down. The When value is condition is FALSE while the
disk is up and running correctly. The condition becomes TRUE,
meaning action needs to be taken, when the disk is down or not
operating correctly.
When value changes - If this notification option is set, a non-normal
severity occurs when the current value does not match the previous
value
For an abnormal event, a system error logging level will be associated
with the logged message.
To set system log notification, select the syslog option from the list in
the Notify via area.
The textlog Option
This sends event notification to a file you specify.
To set textlog notification, execute the following steps:
1. Select the Textlog option from the list in the Notify via area.
2. Specify the filename and path in the File Path field.
The default path is /var/opt/resmon/log/event.log.
You can use emscli for selecting a protocol to send events. For more
information, refer to the emscli (1m) manpage.
The WBEM Option
This sends the WBEM (Web Based Enterprise Management) indications
to the Evweb Event Viewer. The Evweb Event Viewer is a plugin in the
HP System Management Homepage (HP SMH), a single-system
administration application.
To set WBEM notification, select the wbem option from the list in the
Notify via area.
