Event Monitoring Service Version A.04.20 Release Notes Announcement Announcement Event Monitoring Service (EMS) (B7609BA) A.04.20 is being released for use on the Itanium 2-based platform and PA-RISC platform with the HP-UX 11i v2 operating system. You can use EMS together with one or more EMS monitors to monitor various system resources. The EMS product includes the framework and general monitors. You can configure EMS to monitor system resources through monitoring requests.

The following changes have been made in this version: • EMS now supports the Node and Host Name Expansion feature, which is available on the software pack. This feature provides you with the ability to set nodes and host names upto 255 characters.

EMS persistence requests are lost when the EMS startup script is manually used to start and stop EMS (/sbin/init.d/ems start and /sbin/init.d/ems stop). What is the workaround? Do not use the EMS startup script to start and stop EMS on the system.

Note that the monitors are persistent; that is, they are always automatically started if they are stopped.

EMS patch will contain High Availability (HA) Monitors patch as well. EMS uses PHSS_ prefix for patches. A new release contains new EMS and EMS HA Monitors features as well as fixes for known problems. For a new release of EMS and EMS HA Monitors, the following is guaranteed: • Full release testing is performed prior to release.
