Configuring MC/ServiceGuard EMS Resource Dependencies
In the earlier versions of MC/ServiceGuard, it was possible to configure the EMS resource
package dependencies via SAM in the “Package Configuration” subarea. Since the “Package
Configuration” subarea in SAM is not supported in MC/ServiceGuard version A.11.15.00 in
HP-UX 11i v2, an alternate procedure for configuring EMS resource package dependencies
has been provided. Refer to MC/ServiceGuard versionA.11.15 Release Notes for PA on HP-UX
11i v1 for the alternate procedure.
Bastille Interactions
EMS requires SNMP daemon (snmpdm) to query SNMP mibs and to send SNMP trap
notifications. Selecting an install-time security level causes the SNMP daemon (snmpdm)tobe
shutdown. Therefore, if your system is configured with any install-time security level, any
SNMP MIB-related query or snmp trap notification will fail. The same behavior will result if
snmpdm is disabled manually or by using a tool such as HP-UX Bastille.
If you want to secure the system using HP-UX Bastille interactively, ensure that the SNMP
daemon service is not disabled for EMS to function properly. Alternatively, after using an
install-time security level, you can manually start the snmp daemon and related snmp
subagents mib2agt, hp_unixagt, trapdestagt and ipv6agt (if the system supports IPv6).
