Requirements for HP OpenView Users:

You should conﬁgure templates into HP Open View ITO or NNM to view EMS events. To

conﬁgure, download the latest templates from the http://software.hp.com web site. Select

High Availability, and then choose Event Monitoring Service Developers’ Kit. The

templates are listed in the Developers’ Kit page. Instructions are provided with the templates.

Hardware Requirements

Event Monitoring Service version A.04.00 runs on HP 9000 servers running HP-UX 11i v1.

Disk Requirements

EMS requires approximately 8 MB of disk space to install.

EMS requires 4 MB disk space in the /etc/opt directory for the following log ﬁles for

logging:

• api.log

• registrar.log

• client.log

• emsagent.log

• api.log.old

• registrar.log.old

• client.log.old

• emsagent.log.old

An additional 2 MB disk space is required for reslog.html, and reslog.old.html for

archiving monitor data. Apart from 6 MB monitor disk space, you may have to reserve

additional disk space for EMS monitors logging.

Memory Requirements

EMS requires approximately 3 MB of memory to execute.

Installing the Event Monitoring Service

EMS checks the resources for local systems only. EMS is most effective when installed and

conﬁgured on all systems in your environment.
