Required Patches and Problems

Required Software Patches

• The following patches are required with EMS:

• PHSS_10715 (HP-UX 10.20 and 11.0)

This upgrades the SNMP master agent to version 14.x, which is required if

you plan to send events using SNMP traps. After you install this patch, you

need to set the following in the /etc/SnmpAgent.d/snmpd.conf

ﬁle:

get-community-name: public

• PHSS_13979

Without this patch, multiple traps are sent to conﬁgured

computers when an exception is noticed. This is because of

successive snmpsets on a trapDestination object.

The following patches are recommended for use with EMS HA

Monitors:

• PHSS_14652

For HP-UX version 11.0, the SCSI passthru driver is already part

of the system. However, you may wish to include this patch, or the

one that supersedes it, to get the latest version.

Known Problems and Workarounds

The following are known problems with the EMS:

Name services requirement

• What is the problem?

EMS may not function if you are running name services that do not

use /etc/services, such as NIS, DNS, or X.500.
