Upgrade task responsibilities
Table 5 provides an overview of the major tasks involved in upgrading the storage system and identifies
who typically performs each task. Many of the tasks can be performed before HP technical support
arrives on site to perform the upgrade. Completing these tasks in advance reduces the amount of time
required to upgrade the storage system.

2. Purchase and install new HBAs and drivers as

3. Install new multipath and/or driver software as
required.
This software will be used to connect to the storage
system following the XCS upgrade.

Although the upgrade does not require the
restoration of data following the upgrade, HP
recommends that a complete backup be performed.
