Before a drive ﬁrmware upgrade, back up all of your data.

CAUTION:

• Ifthecodeload

is interrupted by power failure, reboot, or drive removals and additions, data can

be lost.

• Do not power off any components or perform controller resynchs or reboots during an upgrade.

• Do not perform

HP Continuous Access EVA copy/merge activities across sites, site failovers, cloning,

or grouping o

r ungrouping of disks during an upgrade.

Before a drive ﬁrmwa re upgrade, back up all of your data. If upgrading destination drives on a system

with HP Continuous Access EVA installed:

• Suspend the intersite link and upgrade all drives on the destination array using the Emergency

quick load procedure.

• Resume the intersite link and allow the merge to complete.

• Perform site failover.

• Suspend the intersite link again and upgrade all drives on the new destination array using the

Emergency quick load procedure.

• Resume the intersite link and allow the merge to complete.

• Perform site failback.

At the beginning of a drive ﬁrmware upgrade, a calculation i s performed to determine whether eno ugh

space is ava ilable. If space is exceeded during an upgrade, an event (0x0B01B515) is logged and

the upgrade is suspended until more storage is ad ded to the array.

Upgrade the drive ﬁrmware after you upgrade the system software.

CAUTION:

additions, data can be lost.

To upgrade the drive ﬁrmware, perform the steps in Upgrading sy stem software.Reviewthetextthat

appears in HP Command View EVA to conﬁrm that you use the correct load method.

After you upg rade the drive ﬁrmware, wait ﬁve minutes. Using the Controller Event Log in HP Command

View EV A, verify that the drive ﬁrmware was successfully upgraded.
