CAUTION:

In an HP Continuous Access EVA environment, do not begin the upgrade until the following

conditions are met. If you attempt to upgrade the controllers before the following conditions

are met, controller operation will fail.

• Ensure that no DR group is logging, merging, leveling, or copying. Furthermore, none

of the DR gr oups can be in a failsafe locked state.

Click the DR group icon in the Navigation pane.

Check the Log state in the DR Group Properties page.

If necessary, stop all copying in HP Continuous Access EVA before you load code.

• Ensure the connection between the storage systems is not compromised or failed.

Click the Data Replication folder in the Navigation pane.

Check the Connection State in the Data Replication Folder Properties page.

• All EVA storage systems must b e running normally with fully functional controller pairs.

• After upgrading the ﬁrst controller pa ir (for example, the sourc e controller pair), wait

at least three minutes before upgrading the second controller pair. Make sure the

preceding conditions are met on the second controller pair.

6. Click Code load.

7. Click OK.

8. Insert the installation CD-ROM into the computer from which you are browsing.

9. Click Browse and select the ﬁle containing version XCS 5.031 of the storage system software from

the installation CD-ROM.

• EVA 8000 – select either the \\HSV210\5031\210_5031.SSS

or \\HSV210\LAT-

EST\HSV210.SSS ﬁle (the ﬁles are identical).
