10. Verify that the appliance name and IP address are correct.

12. Select Storage Manag em ent Appliance 2.1 from the drop-down list.

13. Click Next.

The installation process begins. A status bar o pens.

NOTE:

The installation process can last one hour. Wa it until the installation completes before you

perform any other actions in the Storage Management Appliance software.

When the inst

ppliance software 2.1 starts automatically.

Verifying the Storage M anagement Appliance software version

1. From a client computer, start a Web browser and browse to the Storag e Management Appliance,

using the following format:

https://<host_name>/

NOTE:

ThedefaultappliancenameforaStorageManagementAppliance(hardwareversion1.0)

begins with

swma

and includes the last 6 characters of the appliance serial number.

IftheStorageManagementAppliancesoftwarewasrestoredusingtheQuickRestoreCD

2.0,thenthedefaultappliancenamebeginswith

sma

and includes a ll 12 characters

of the appliance serial number.

The default appliance name for a Storage Management Appliance II begins with

sma

and

includes all 12 characters of the appliance serial number.

The default appliance name for a Storage Management Appliance III b e g ins with

includes all 10 characters of the appliance serial number

The serial number is displayed on a sticker which is usually pasted to the lower right side of

theappliance(whenviewedfromthefront).

2. Log in to the Storage M anagement Appliance software using a valid user name and password.

NOTE:

You must have administrator privileges.

3. Click Help in the tool bar.
