Working with Clusters
Clustering is the connecting of two or more computers together in such a way that
they behave like a single computer. Clustering is used for parallel processing, load
balancing, and fault tolerance.
The supported clustering software for Tru64 UNIX is TruCluster. See the
platform-specific release notes for the specific version of the supported clustering
software.
Be sure to install the Tru64 UNIX Kit on each server in the cluster. Refer to the
documentation that came with the clustering software for more specific
information.
Expanding Volumes
Tru64 UNIX does not support dynamically growing a virtual disk volume. If you
need to increase the size of a virtual disk, use the workaround that follows.
Note: As with any large-scale operation, it is always best to first create a backup of
your data.
Volume Expansion Workaround
1. Copy any existing data to a safe place (tape or other device).
2. Stop all applications using the virtual disk.
3. Unattach the host server from the virtual disk.
4. Expand the virtual disk using the Command View EVA.
5. Reconnect the host to the virtual disk.
6. Format and partition as necessary.
7. Restore data from the backup.
The expanded virtual disk is now available for use.
