HP StorageWorks Sun Solaris Connectivity 3.0J for the 3000/5000 Enterprise Virtual Array Release Notes (5697-5648, January 2006)

Switch support
This release supports the Fibre Channel (FC) switches and firmware versions listed in the HP
StorageWorks S
AN design reference guide which can be downloaded from the following web site:
h
ttp://h18000
.www1.hp.com/products/storageworks/san/documentation.html
NOTE:
HP recommends that you do not mix switch firmware versions in your SAN. It is considered a best
practice to uniformly upgrade all switches in the SAN.
Multiple-path support
Sun Solaris with EVA storage requires the installation of StorageWorks Secure Path on each host to
achieve high-availability, multiple-path capability.
Sun Solaris 10 requires the minimum version of Secure Path 3.0D SP1.
Single-path support
A Sun Solaris server requires a single Fibre Channel Adapter (FCA) to support single-path mode.
NOTE:
Single-path mode should not be used in mission-critical environments. To configure Sun Solaris in
single-pathmode,youmustuseHSG80SolutionSoftware8.7AforSunSolarisconnectivity.
Operating constraints
You can find operating constraints specific to the EVA and HP StorageWorks Command View EVA in
their resp
ective release notes.
Storage System Scripting Utility for EVA
The Storage System Scripting Utility (SSSU) communicates directly with the Command View EVA. See
the HP StorageWorks Sun Solaris connectivity for the Enterprise Virtual Array installation and reference
guide for more information about SSSU.
Avoiding
problem situations
The foll
owing sections describe problems that may arise and their solutions.
Known problems
You can find information about problems specific to the EVA and Command View EVA in their respective
release notes.
Using c
onfig.sh to install an HSV110
When yo
uuseconfig.sh from the Fcraid manager to install an HSV110 on a system with an HSG80,
some pa
ths to the storage may be undetected. Before installing Secure Path, run devfsadm to detect all
config
ured paths. Afterwards, run spconfig to correctly configure your system.
