Installing the IBM AIX Kit

2. If a directory called /cdrom does not exist, create it with the command:
mkdir /cdrom
3. Find your CD-ROM device by issuing the command:
lsdev -Cc cdrom
The CD-ROM device is probably cd0 or another similar looking device
4. Mount the CD-ROM by issuing the command:
mount -rv cdrfs /dev/cd0 /cdrom
Where /dev/cd0 is your CD-ROM device and /cdrom is the directory
where you want to mount the CD-ROM.
Note: These parameters may vary from machine to machine.
5. Change directory to the root directory (/).
cd /
It is important that you do not start the INSTALL program from the directory
where the CD-ROM is mounted because the INSTALL program will later
prompt you to insert the Secure Path CD-ROM. Before you insert the Secure
Path CD-ROM, the INSTALL program will attempt to unmount the IBM AIX
Kit V3.0B for the Enterprise Virtual Array CD-ROM, and it cannot do so if
the current directory is one where the CD-ROM is mounted.
6. From the root directory, issue the command similar to the following:
/cdrom/INSTALL
The install program will then check if you are using the qualified AIX revision
and maintenance level. After this, the install program will ask if you want to
install the single path driver or Secure Path. You have the following options:
If you answer y, the single path driver will be installed from the solution kit
CD and then the rest of the solution kit will be installed.
If you answer n, the install program will prompt you as to how you want to
install Secure Path. If you type ENTER, you will be prompted to put the
Secure Path CD into the CD-ROM drive. The install program finds the
correct fileset and installs it on the CD. If you type d, the install program
prompts you for a directory name and filename. Enter the directory and the
name of the Secure Path image file when prompted. Enter c to skip the
Secure Path installation.
