Installing Secure Path
The Enterprise Virtual Array requires a multiple path-only environment. Secure
Path for HP-UX provides this multiple path environment. You must have Secure
Path installed on the host before any virtual disks can be recognized and
configured.
Installing the Host Kit
The HP-UX Kit V3.0B for Enterprise Virtual Array installs the supported FCA
driver and the Storage System Scripting Utility (SSSU).
The HSV controllers can be configured with SSSU as an alternate to Command
View EVA. SSSU allows a command line interface for issuing commands directly
to the controller. Complex configuration requests and operations can be handled
by either Command View EVA or SSSU. Simple or initial configuration requests
can be handled easily through Command View EVA, but repetitious and complex
configuration steps can be scripted and executed through the command line
interface.
Note: The SSSU CAPTURE CONFIGURATION command (see the entry on the
CAPTURE CONFIGURATION command in the Storage System Scripting Utility
reference guide) is the only way to capture, save, and recreate a storage system’s
configuration.
See the HP StorageWorks Storage System Scripting Utility Reference Guide for
more information on using SSSU (included on the CD-ROM that came with this
kit).
The supported versions of the HP-UX operating system include the latest FCA
device drivers. No additional setup is required. Check the platform-specific
release notes to ensure your operating system meets the minimum requirements
for working with the Enterprise Virtual Array. Refer to Installing the “Installing
the Storage System Scripting Utility” to install the SSSU. Refer to “Checking the
HP-UX Driver Version” on page 25 to ensure you have the correct version of the
FCA driver.
