HP StorageWorks EVA iSCSI Connectivity Option Release Notes (5697-5472, February 2006)

HP StorageWork
s High Availability Fabric Manager
Important note—HP StorageWorks High Availability Fabric Manager (HAFM) for M-Series
Fibre Channel switches does not recognize the mpx100.
The M-Series Zoning Manager do es not recognize the WWPNs of the mpx100 as Fibre Channel
HBAs. Instead, the M-Series Zoning Manager sees the WWPNs as switches so they do not appear as
devices to zone.
Workaround
An alternative M-Series application must be used to configure zones that include the mpx100 W WPNs.
Select from one of the following applications:
Prior to HAFM
version 8, use Embedded Web Server.
ForHAFMVersion8andabove,useHAFMBasic.
NOTE:
Afterconfiguringthezones,HAFMmustbeupdatedtoincludethesenewedits.
the iSCSI initiator iqn name
Important note—the iSCSI initiator no longer logs into the target after changing the initiator
iqn name.
The iSCSI name structur e is fairly rigid and contains two parts: a type d esignation followed by a unique
name string.
The two t ype designators for iSCSI are:
The iSCSI qualified name—iqn.
The IEEE EUI-64 identifier in ACSII-encoded hexade cimal—eui.
An example of the iqn string follows:
iqn.1991-05.com.microsoft:imthe.firstone.net
This designator type c onsists of the following parameters:
The string iqn followed by a dot (.).
A date code, in yyyy-mm format followed by another dot (.).
A reverse domain name.
Optional colon (:) prefixed by string
For those using only ASCII characters (U+0 000 to U+007F), the following characters are allowed:
ASCI I dash character (’-’ = U+002d)
ASCII dot character (’. = U+002e)
ASC II colon character (’:’ = U+003a)
ASCII lower-case characters (’a’..’z’ = U+0061..U+007a)
ASCII digit characters (’0’..’9’ = U+0030..U+0039)
NOTE:
See section 3.2.6 of RFC 3720 (iSCSI) for a description of the iSCSI name string profile.
