HP StorageWorks EVA iSCSI Connectivity Option 5.1 release notes (5697-7321, January 2008)

iSCSI initiator
LUNs disappear af ter changing the initiator iqn name
The mpx100 main
tains a database of targets, initiators a nd LUNs and the corresponding links between
them. Whenever
Command View presents or removes a LUN from an iSCSI initiator, it updates the
mpx100’s database. W hen a new iqn name logs into the mpx100, it is considered a new initiator and
no LUNs are assigned to it. All LU N assignments to the old iqn are still maintained.
Workaround
Using Command View EVA, unpresent the LUN from the old initiator iqn and then present it to the
new initiator iqn name. Remove the old initiator from the mpx100 database with either the mpx100
Manager GUI or the CLI.
Windows iSCSI initiators must add Tcp1323Opts to registry
Timestamps h
elp TCP measure round trip time (RTT) accurately to adjust retransmission timeouts. The
Timestamps option provides two timestamp elds of 4 bytes each in the TCP header: one to record the
time the initial transmission is sent, and one to record the time on the remote host.
To enable ti
mestamps, the Tcp1323Opts entrymustbesettoREG_DWORD = 2 under
HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Tcpip\Parameters.
Installing the Windows iSCSI initiator from the HP StorageWorks iSCSI Connectivity Option for Enterprise
Virtual Array Windows software kit automatically adds this registry setting.
Workaround
Make the change to the registry, or cut and paste the following lines to a text le named
tcp1323opts.reg.
tcp1323opts.reg.
:
REGEDIT4
[HKEY_LO CAL_M ACHINE\SYSTEM\Current-
ControlSet\Services\Tcpip\Parameters]
"Tcp1323Opts"=dword:00000002
Double-click the le to add changes to the registry for the iSCSI initiator.
CAUTION:
Using the Registry Editor incorrectly can cause serious problems that can require reinstallation of the
operatingsystem. Backuptheregistrybeforemakinganychanges. UsetheRegistryEditoratyour
