• Determine if the p roblem is with HP Command View EVA by performing the troubleshooting steps
in “HP Command View EVA problems” on page 69.
• Check any WEBES messages.
1. Double click on the System Event Analyzer icon on the management server to run WEBES.
2. Click Full View under either System Log or the appropriate storage system in the left navigation
pane.
• Check the storage system event logs.
1. Run HP Command View EVA and log in.
2. Select the storage system whose logs you want to view.
3. Click View events to view the event logs that can be displayed.
If none of the above recommendations resolves the problem, contact your HP-authorized service
representative for help.
Solving pro
blems with multiple resynchronizations (Step 10)
During the u
pgrade process, both controllers perform a resynchronization simultaneously. This invokes a
fast resta
rt of the controllers — bypassing execution of leng thy hardware diagnostics. This fast restart
allows the
controllers to complete the resynchronization sequence before the host timeout period elapses
and the host becomes aware that the stora ge system is unavailable.
If an event occurs that causes a second resynchronization while the firmware upgrade resynchronization
is still in progress, the controller will terminate with a code of 0b 08 01 00.Thefollowingevents
cause the controller to resysnchronize automatically:
• Initiali
zation of the storage system
• Setting debug flags through the command line interface or OCP
• Occurrence of a disk group hardware problem on a Vraid1 virtual disk, or the return of a disk
during t
his condition
• Bad Block Replacement (BBR) performed on a disk
• Memory allocation failure or other errors
Every ef
fort should be made to ensure none of these events occur during the upgrade process. If
controller termination occurs d ue to multiple resynchronizations, contact your HP-authorized service
representative for assistance.
