d. Enter a name in the Fabric Name box. You can use the default fabric name, but HP recommends
that you chan
ge it to a name that is meaningful to you. This name is used when generating
reports, so i
t should be one that is easily recognized as being associated with the fabric on
which data collection will be done.

4. Click the Sw
itch Settings tab and enter the following information.
a. Enter the IP address of the primary switch on the SAN for which you want a report. Information
will be collected for a ll devices conne cted to this switch.
b. Clear Disc
over cascaded switches. This option automatically d etects all switches connected to
the switch identified by the IP ad dress. Including all the cascaded switches increases the data
collected for the report to include all the devices connected to all the switches. If you want to
include all the switches, leave this option selected.
c. Enter the
switch login and password if required.
d. If you ha
ve created more than one fabric, use the PutthisswitchinFabricdrop-down list to select
the fabric to which you want to add this switch.
e. Click Add Switch to the tree to add the switch to the reporting configuration.
Creating a report
Once you have configuredSANVisibilityfordatacollection,youcancreateareport. Therearetwo
methods for creating a report:
• Automatically—this method automatically e -mails the data to HP when collection is complete. This
requires you to know the SMTP address of your mail server. If you have external e-mail access
from your environment, this is the preferred metho d.
• Manually—this method requires you to manually send the data to HP. If you d o not have external
e-mail access, use this method.
Creating a report automatically
1. Click the D a ta Collection tab.
2. Select Automatically E-mail the collected raw files on completion.
3. Ent
er the name or IP address of your SMTP mail ser ver in the SMTP Server box.
4. Select the fabric for which you want to create a report from the Choose Fabric for data colle ction list.
Check For All Fabrics to create reports for all the fabrics.
