Enhancements
The followi
ng enhancements are included in this release:
• Changes were implemented for potential FC-AL ESI inter face errors
• Functional capability during SEEK commands while saving SMART frames has been increased.
• In the rare
instance that the d rive is in an assert condition, a recovery sequence has been
implemented ensure that the drive provides a check condition and then returns to normal function.
• An offl ine drive dump is now available even when the format is corrupted for Failure Analysis.
• Performa
nce enhancements have been made to address drive hang conditions.
• Enhancements have been made to drive code error recovery techniques.
Prerequisites
To upgrade multiple disk drives online without the data migration process, you must be running:
• VCS 3.100 or later on EVA3000/5000
• XCS 6.000 or later on EVA4000/6000/8000
• HP Command View EVA 6.0.2 or later
NOTE:
You can upgrade disk d rives using the data migration process if required or preferred. See

StorageWorks Enterprise Virtual Array upgrading disk drive firmware read me first
for instructions.
Installation instructions
HP recommends that you use the bundled firmware file to upgrade all hard disk drives rather than
manually upgrade the firmware on an individual disk drive. To upgrade a ll hard disk drives:
1. If you have not already done so, download the H P StorageWorks EVA Hard Disk Drive Bundle file.
