Upgrading browsers and JRE (Optional)
Estimated time to complete: 10–20minutes
When to perform: Any time prior to the upgrade
If you are running HP Command View EVA 5.x, 6.x, or later, you do not need to perform this task.
Ensure that you are using a supported browser and JRE. HP Command View EVA may not work
correctly with an unsupported browser.
The JRE is not used by HP Command View EVA, but it is needed for HP Replication Solutions Manager.
It is also required for WEBES and SAN Visibility. See
Upgrading HP Replication Solutions Manager (optional)” on page 32 for more information.
For complete information on supported browsers and JREs, see the "Browsers and JRE support" table
in the HP StorageWorks EVA software compatibility reference. See “Required documentation” on page
13 for the link to this document.
NOTE:
If you need to update the browser version on remote computers, do so after you have upgraded HP
Command View EVA.
Installing Remote Support Software
If you are currently running an EVA monitoring tool (such as WEBES or ISEE), HP recommends that
you install HP's Insight Remote Support software (part number RSSWMBASE) from
www.software.hp.com. You can install or upgrade Insight Remote Support without removing any other
EVA monitoring tools.
HP Insight Remote Support helps you reduce costs, save time and ensure maximum system availability
by providing remote monitoring, intelligent event diagnosis and the automatic secure submission of
hardware event notifications. This technology has been optimized for environments with 1-50 servers
(maximum 100) and requires only a shared Windows ProLiant hosting device. It supports HP ProLiant,
BladeSystem, Integrity, HP 9000 servers and HP EVA storage devices, and is available at no extra
cost as part of your warranty, HP Care Pack Service or contractual support agreement with HP. For
more information, access the Insight RS quick start guide at
http://docs.hp.com/en/netsys.html#Insight%Remote%20Support.
