2. Unzip the file.
3. Follow the instructions in the Readme file to load the NVRAM configuration onto each
FCA2214 adapter.

Setting the
multipathing policy
You can set t
he multipathing policy for each logical unit number (LUN) or logical drive on the storage
area network (SAN) . The multipathing policies are:
• Most Recently Used (MRU)
• Fixed
• Preferred
You can use the vmkmultipath command, or the VM ware Management User Interface (MU I) to
set the multipathing policy for a LUN.
• For 2.5.x
, the following command sets the multipathing policy for all LUNs on the SAN
vmhba0:0:1 to MRU :
# vmkmultipath -s vmhba0:0:1 -p mru
• For 2.5.x
, the following c omm and sets the multipathing policy for vmhba1:0:1 to Fixed:
# vmkmultipath -s vmhba1:0:1 -p fixed
• For 2.5.x, the following command sets and enables the multipathing policy for vmhba2:0:1 to
Preferred :
# vmkmul
tipath -s vmhba1:0:1 -r vmhba2:0:1 -e vmhba2:0:1
• For 3.0.x, the following comma nd sets the policy for disk vmhba0:0:1 to MRU:
esxcfg-mpath -policy=mru -lun=vmhba0:0:1 (To set to fixed, replace mru with fixed.)
• For 3.0.x, the following comma nd sets the preferred path for disk vmhba1:0:1:
esxcfg-
mpath -preferred -path=vmhba1:0:1 -lun=vmba0:0:1
• For 3.0.x, to enable a path for disk vmhba1:0:1:
esxcfg-mpath -path=vmhba1:0:1 -lun=vmhba0:0:1 -state=on
• For 3.0
.x, to disable a path and set policy to fixed for disk vmhba0:0:1:
esxcfg-mpath -path=vmhba0:1:1 -state=off -lun=vmhba0:0:1 -p fixed
NOTE:
Any LUN can be accessed through both EVA storage controllers simultaneously, even though each LUN is
owned by one controller. To optimize performance when using the Fixed multipathing policy, all servers
must use the same controller path for any LUN.
For 2.5.x, to set the multipathing policy from the MUI Storage Management, click the Failover P aths tab,
and then select Edit… link for each LUN whose policy you want to set.
