Conguring the EVA3000/5000 in VMware host servers
The section provides information to help you congure EVA3000/5000 storage systems in VMware
host servers.
NOTE:
Typically, the adapter that conne cts the host server to the fabric is called a host bus adapter (HBA). The
HBA connected to the EVA is called a Fibre Channel adapter (FCA). The adapter is referred to as a Fibre
Channel host bus adapter (FC HBA) in other related documents.
To congure an EVA3000/5000 on a VMware host server:
1. Use HP Command View EVA to cong ure one host for each VMware server.
NOTE:
Do not add additional host entries for servers with more than one FCA.
2. Ensure that all F CA s appear in the world wide por t name (WWPN) list. Adjust the WWPN
list ma nually, if necessary.
3. Set the host connection type as follows:
ForVCS3.x,setthehostconnectiontypetoCustom with a value of 000000002200282E.
For VCS 4.x, set the host connection type to VM ware.
4. Add a por t to the host ser ver dened in step 1.
5. Use one of the following commands to locate the WWPN:
From the service console, enter the wwpn.pl command.
During p ower-on self-test (POST), enter the FastUtil command.
NOTE:
Anumberedle contains conguration settings (including the WWPN), and other status information
for each FCA on the server. The WWPN is listed in the SCSI device information se ction as
scsi-qla2-adapter-port.
