About this guide
1 Host connectivity This chapter provides host connectivity information and links to components you need to support your operating system with an Enterprise Virtual Array storage system.
NOTE: The recommended SRM version is 7.3. The minimum SRM version is 6.9. The following example uses dqa0 as the CD drive designation: P00>>>b dqa0 2. Enter the following command after the CD boots and the UPD prompt appears: UPD>List The list command checks the current versions against the new versions of firmware. 3. Enter the following command to update the firmware versions: UPD>Update pg* 4.
Updating the Tru64 UNIX driver The FC HBA driver is automatically updated when the patch kit is loaded. You can locate the patch at the following web site: http://h30097.www3.hp.com/docs/patch Adding new FCAs on an existing Tru64 UNIX operating system To add an FCA to an existing Tru64 UNIX operating system after the latest patch kit is installed: 1. Boot genvmunix from the SRM console: P00>>>boot -file genvmunix 2. Rebuild the kernel, copy the new kernel to /vmunix, and reboot the system.
Host connectivity
2 Testing connections to the Enterprise Virtual Array This chapter describes how to test connections between the operating system host server and the Enterprise Virtual Array. Virtual disks are set up and presented to your host server to test the connectivity and to begin using the disks. NOTE: Most of the following sections refer to HP Command View EVA. More information about HP Command View EVA is available on the HP website: http://www.hp.com/support/manuals.
• Size • Present to host (the host you just created) • OS Unit ID (located on the Virtual Disk Properties window) — Set this to a unique value for each virtual disk. The OS Unit ID must be unique across the entire SAN. NOTE: The OS unit ID is optional for Tru64 UNIX. However, HP recommends that each virtual disk have a unique ID number. You can use the OS unit ID to easily track the virtual disks presented to the Tru64 UNIX host.
#hwmgr -v d | grep HSV1 536: 537: 538: 539: /dev/disk/dsk464c /dev/disk/dsk465c /dev/disk/dsk465c /dev/disk/dsk467c HP HP HP HP HSV110 HSV110 HSV110 HSV110 IDENTIFIER=70 IDENTIFIER=71 bus-0-targ-11-lun-72 bus-0-targ-11-lun-73 If you are unable to access the virtual disk, do the following: • Check the switch zoning database. • Use HP Command View EVA to verify the host presentations. • Verify all cabling to the switch, Enterprise Virtual Array, and host.
1. Enter the following command to create an AdvFS domain: # mkfdmn /dev/disk/dsk63c test_dmn The following output is displayed: Warning: /dev/disk/dsk63c is marked in use for AdvFS. If you continue the operation you can possibly destroy existing data. CONTINUE? [y/n] 2. Enter y to continue. 3. Create a file set within an AdvFS domain using the following command: # mkfset test_dmn labset 4. Enter the following command to make a mount point for the file system: # mkdir lab1 5.
