This chapter describes how to test connections between the host server and the EVA3000/5000.
Adding hosts
To add a host using HP Command View EVA:
1. Retrieve the WWNs for each FC HBA in your server.
2. From HP Command View EVA:
a. Select the Ho
sts folder under your EVA.
b. Use Add Host to add your host with its first HBA WWN.
c. Use Add Ports to add additional HBA WW N s.
3. Set host typ
e:
• To Linux for VCS 4.xxx.
• To Solaris for VCS 3.xxx
Creating and presenting virtual disks
To create and present additional virtual disks to the host server:
1. Create a virtual disk on the EVA using HP Command View EVA.
2. Specify values for the following parameters:
•
Virtual disk name
•
Vraid level
•
Size
• Present to host (the host you created above)
Verifying virtual disks from the host
To ensure that the LUN is recognized after a virtual disk is presented to the host, do one of the following:
• Reboot the host.
• Enter t
he /opt/hp/hp_fibreutils/hp_rescan -a command.
To veri
fy that you ca n see the virtual disks you created for the host, enter the following command:
# more /proc/scsi/scsi
The output display is a list of all SCSI devices your server detects. An entry for an EVA LUN looks
