HP StorageWorks 3000/5000 Enterprise Virtual Array connectivity for IBM AIX installation and reference guide (5697-7040, November 2007)
2 Testing connections to the
Enterprise Virtual Array
This chapter describes how to test connections between the operating system host ser ver and the
Enterprise Virtual Arra y. Virtual disks are set up and presented to your host server to test the connectiv ity
and to begin using the disks.
Adding hosts
You can add a host using HP Command View EVA software. You must add each FCA installed in the host
system for that FCA to work with EV A. Execute the following procedure:
1. CollectinformationonWorldWideNames(WWNs)foreachFCAonyourserver.Youneed
this information when choosing the host FCAs in HP Command View EVA.
NOTE:
Adding hosts through the HP Command View EVA soft ware consists of adding each FCA adapter
installed in the host. When you add the first adapter, you use the Add Host function, but when
you add sub
sequent adapters, you use the Add Port function. Ensure that you add a port for
each active FCA.
Gather the following information:
a. Determine the active Cambex FCAs on the IBM AIX host by entering the command:
/usr/lpp/cbxfc/cbxfcsm listadapt
Theoutputshouldbesimilartothefollowingoutput:
# Device Status
scsi2 Active
scsi3 Active
b. Determine the WWNs of the FCAs by entering the command:
show_wwid
Theoutputshouldbesimilartothefollowingoutput:
scsi2: 500502E0100009FE
scsi3: 500502E01000018B
2. Add the host using HP Command View EVA.
3. Ensure tha t the host FCAs have been added by inspecting the Host folder in the Navigation tree
of HP Command View EVA.
NOTE:
Set the host type to IBM AIX.
For more information on using HP Command View EVA, see the HP Command View EVA documentation.
