NOTE:
You must have VCS 3.028 installed before upgrading to VCS 4.00x or later. HP recommends that
you do a full system backup before an HP service representative perform s the migrating procedure.
Prerequisites
Multiple-path support
VMware op erating software includes multipath support. No additional software is required to achieve
high-availabilit y, multipath capability.
For detailed VMware multipathing information, see the description of the vmkmultipath command in
the ESX server administrator’s guide.
NOTE:
Secure Path and other MPIO softwar e are not supported with VMware.

VCS 3.028 to VCS 4.00x migration
The Active/Active failover feature in VCS 4.00x impacts host congurations. Contact your HP service
representative to congure your system and perform the m igration procedure.
Compatibility/interoperability
This release provides full support for all previous EVA controller software used in an existing SAN
conguration.
Host type for VMware
To ensure smooth system operation with VCS 4 .00x or later, set the host type to VMware.Seethe
