4.
Create PUE associations ("Associating PUE objects" on page 86) to the objects whose data you
want to compute.
Configuring SNMP devices for PUE data
After you have added and configured your SNMP devices, you can associate the values for PUE
calculation. For more information, see Adding power calculations (on page 58) or Associating PUE
objects (on page 86).
To configure your SNMP devices for PUE data:
1. Verify that you have created an SNMP data source ("Creating an SNMP data source" on page 21).
2. In the properties of the SNMP device, edit the TCP/IP Address field.
3. Add a Numeric SNMP Input device ("Adding wired integration" on page 65).
4. In the properties of the Numeric SNMP Input device, edit the SNMP OID and SNMP Data Type fields.
5. Continue to add Numeric SNMP Input devices to your floor plan to retrieve additional OIDs for the
same SNMP device.
6. Repeat for all SNMP devices.
Adding inspectors
NOTE: PUE objects are symbolic and do not represent a physical device within the data
center.
Inspector objects provide viewing of non-showing power data on the Custom Metrics tab. Since most
power calculation values are hidden in the Observer interface, you can associate an inspector object to a
calculation object to display the object in Observer. You can add more than one inspector object to your
floor plan.
