What are the browser security settings
for the PCs that access the HP Insight
Environmental system?
Add the server to the intranet zone in the security setup area. For
example, in Internet Explorer:
1 Click Tools>Options>Security, and select the intranet zone icon.
2 Click the Sites button.
3 Add the IP address of the server to the list.
When accessing the HP Insight
Environmental Observer web address,
the browser returns the error "Unable to
connect" (Firefox) or "Internet Explorer
cannot display the web page" (Internet
Explorer).
•
Verify that the web address is correct. The default web address is
http://localhost:8080/HPIEO. If the login page does not appear,
the browser might be configured to block pop-ups.
•
If either the server where the HP Insight Environmental Environment
Application Server or the client PC has a firewall blocking port
8080, create an exception for port 8080 on both systems. For more
information on creating an exception, see the instructions for your
firewall software.
When accessing HP Insight
Environmental Observer Console, a
small red X appears instead of the user
interface.
Any PC that accesses the web console must have Adobe Flash player
9.x and Adobe Flash plug-in for the browser installed.
Sensor nodes are not recording data.
•
Be sure that the IP address for the gateway in the HP Insight
Environmental Configurator project is accurate.
•
Be sure that the PAN_ID for the network configuration in the HP
Insight Environmental project matches the PAN_ID of the nodes in
your network.
The HP Insight Environmental Imaging
Server colors do not appear in the
Observer tab labeled Imaging Server.
•
Verify that the source background image used in the HP Insight
Environmental Imaging Server has a transparent alpha channel so
that the colors can show through the floor plan.
•
Verify that the HP Insight Environmental Imaging Server is running:
1 Click Start>Control Panel>Performance and
Maintenance>Administrative Tools>Services to launch Windows®
Services manager.
2 Locate and highlight the HP Insight Environmental Imaging Server.
3 Click Restart Service.

Be sure that the status of the imaging server is Started.
•
In HP Insight Environmental Configurator, verify the HP Insight
Environmental Imaging Server directory. If the directory location is
incorrect, correct and then export the project again.
The HP Insight Environmental Observer
web console does not show any
instances of the monitored data center.
No configuration is saved in the database. Use Configurator to create
a data center configuration project and export it to the Application
Server.
