Upgrading to a new version
Upgrade overview
To upgrade from a previous version to the current version, you must:
• Uninstall the current software components and then install the updated software components
• Upgrade the MySQL database
• Update the schema in the Configurator software, and then export the new schema to the Observer
software
Removing previous version components
You must remove all current software components and applications. All software components must use the
same version for compatibility.
NOTE: The following sections and screen shots are an example of installation, and, therefore,
the version number might differ from the current software version number. You must adjust the
specific instructions to your current software version number.
Backing up the existing files
HP recommends backing up the HP Configurator project file (.dl), the MySQL database, and any custom
configuration files modified after the original software installation.
NOTE: You must type the command accurately, including spacing, in order to achieve the
desired results.
To backup the MySQL database, issue the following command:
mysqldump -u root -pdbuser -e -q --single-transaction synap > dbbackup.sql

Uninstalling the software components
NOTE: You do not need to update JBOSS or JDK ("Installing JDK" on page 9).
1. Uninstall the software components.
