3 Adding an LTO4 tape drive to a library
that already has an LTO4 tape drive
3.1 Open the library

Open the back doors of the library.
3.2 Remove t
he drive bay cover

Locate a vacant drive bay. Remove the face plate covering the drive
bay by removing the screw holding it in place.
3.3 Install the new tape drive

e the end cap from the port A FC connector on the new tape
drive
. Insert the new drive module into the vacant drive bay and tighten
the ca
ptivescrewtosecurethedrivetothechassis.
3.4 Connect the F
ibre Channel cable

Connect an FC cable to the port A FC connector on the new drive. The
FC cable clicks into place.
CAUTION:
To avoid dam
aging FC cables, do not pinch or bend the cables
sharper tha
na5cm(2inch)diameter.
Connect the other end of the FC c able to its corresponding p ort o n
the SAN. Attach a label to each end of the cable to mark the por t
designations.
3.5 Connect the Ethernet cable

the MGMT port on the tape drive. 2) Connect the other end of the
Ethernet cable to the internal network switch installed in the library. Do
notconnecttheMGMTportorinternalnetworkswitchtothepublic
or site LAN.
3.6 Congure the new tape drive
Use Command View TL or the Interface Manager CLI to enter the host
mapping, access control, and FC speed settings for the new tape drive.
