e2400-FC 4G Fibre Channel Interface Controller User Guide 17
3Troubleshooting
The e2400-FC 4G is configured and managed exclusively by the Interface Manager card. In the
event that the Interface Manager card does not recognize the interface controller, follow the
troubleshooting steps outlined in this chapter.
Before proceeding with further trouble analysis, check all connections and review the
configuration.
Common issues
Symptom Possible cause Solution
Interface Manager
card does not
detect one or more
FC interface
controllers
Interface controller
was not reset twice
before initial
configuration.
Use the Reset hole to reset the interface controller. See
Preparing the e2400-FC 4G for configuration for
further instructions.
Bad network
connection
Check that the Ethernet link LED is solid green, and that
the activity LED is flashing.
Verify that the cables are good.
With ESL libraries, if an Ethernet connectivity problem
is suspected, contact HP support.
With EML libraries, verify that the Ethernet port of the
interface controller is connected to one of the FC
controller ports of the Interface Manager card. If an
Ethernet connectivity problem is still suspected, contact
HP support.
Incorrect firmware
revision
Ensure that the FC interface controllers have the latest
firmware revision. Check
http://www.hp.com/support
for
the latest firmware for your devices.
Defective interface
controller
Observe the Power LED. If it is not lit, then verify that
the card is inserted properly. The e2400-FC 4G
requires a substantial amount of force to properly seat
within the card cage. Make sure that the handles are
fully engaged with the guide rails.
If the Power LED is solid yellow, then contact HP
support.
