The director provides a modular design that enables quick removal and
replacement of FRUs. The rear of the assembly provides a 9-pin, D-type
subminiature (DSUB) maintenance port for connection to a local terminal or
remote terminal. Although the port is typically used by authorized maintenance
personnel, operations personnel can use the port to configure director network
addresses.
