HPClusteredFileSystemusesasetofmembershippartitionstocontrol
accesstotheSAN.Themembershippartitionsarealsousedtostorethe
devicenamingdatabase,whichincludestheglobaldevicenamesthatHP
ClusteredFileSystemassignstotheSANdisksplacedunderitscontrol.
HPClusteredFile
Systemcanuseeitheroneorthreemembership
partitions.Toensurethatamembershippartitionisalwaysavailable,we
stronglyrecommendthat youusethreemembershippartitions.
IfyourdiskarraysoftwareprovidesthecapabilitytocreateLUNs,we
recommendthatyoucreatethreeLUNsforthemembershippartitions.
EachLUN
shouldcontainaminimumof1GB.
AftercreatingtheLUNs,usetheWindowsLogicalDiskManagement
(WLDM)utilitytocreateasinglepartitiononeachLUN.
NOTE: WhenusingWLDMtomanageyourSANdisks,besuretosetthe
disktypeto“Basic.”Ifthedisktypeiscurrentlysetto“Dynamic,”
rightclickonthediskandselect“ConverttoBasicdisk.”HP
ClusteredFileSystemwillnotbeabletoaccessyourSANdisksif
thedisktypeissetto“Dynamic.”
HPClusteredFileSystemsupportsbothMBRbasicdisksandGPT
basicdisks.ForMBRbasicdisks,youcanuseeitherprimary
partitionsorextendedpartitionswithlogicaldrives.
Whenyouconfiguretheclusterlaterinthisprocedure,youcancreateHP
ClusteredFile
Systemmembershippartitionsonthepartitionsthatyou
justcreated.
