HP StorageWorks X5500 Network Storage Gateway for Linux setup guide (AP811-96003, October 2009)

NOTE:
Note the HBA driver is not loaded as part of the initial system boot sequence. Use the above
commands to load/unload the driver and not the modprobe command usually used in a Linux
environment.
Record the WWID values of each HBA for use in configuring the storage subsystem. The /opt/
hpcfsmgmt/bin/cfshbainfo tool can be used to display the WWIDs of each HBA port. This
tool is one of the task selections from inside the HP X5500 Network Storage Gateway for Linux
Control Panel, as well as being available from the command line tool control panel /opt/hpcf-
smgmt/bin/nasconfig.
5. Verify the SAN configuration
This step verifies that the SAN devices are configured appropriately and can be viewed from the
servers that will be in the cluster. Perform this step on each server.
1. Load the HBA drivers provided with HP X5500 Storage Gateway for Linux using the following
command:
# /etc/init.d/pmxs load.
NOTE:
Do not use the standard linux modprobe command. Doing so may result in the wrong driver
and/or wrong driver options being used.
2. Configure paths to the Fibre Channel switches using the following command:
/opt/hpcfs/sbin/mxsanconf -c <community string> <fcsw1_IP> <fcsw2_IP>
3. For Device Mapper configurations only: Verify that Device Mapper configuration (from Appendix
B is complete, and the multipath services are running:
# /etc/init.d/multipathd status
If the multipath service is not running, start it:
# /etc/init.d/multipathd start
4. Run the HP X5500 Storage Gateway for Linux sandiskinfo utility, which probes the devices.
It also provides a list of the devices, including configuration information:
# /opt/hpcfs/bin/sandiskinfo -ual
Review the list generated by sandiskinfo to verify that the SAN is configured in the expected
way.
5. Ensure that the multiple paths for every LUN are seen by every server by executing the following
command:
# /sbin/multipath -ll
The output lists the multiple paths from the server to every LUN presented to it.
6. Edit the /etc/hosts file as instructed on page 20.
