New Local UserYou can select the source of the user database (for example, NIS, LDAP,
/etc/hosts). You can also optionally create new users here. If you do not wish to create new users,
click Next and ignore the dialog about blank entries.

Hardware ConfigurationFrom this point, you can specify things like the monitor (type and resol-
ution) that is being used for this initial configuration. To configure the monitor select Graphics
Cards. In most cases, the system auto-detects and suggests appropriate settings. The defaults will
probably allow you to configure the system. However, HP recommends that you ensure a resolution
of at least 1024x768 and a color depth of at least 16 bits.
Enable hpmouse on the system for iLO
By default, the high-performance iLO mouse is not activated on iLO2. To activate the mouse, run the
following commands:
cd /opt/hp/hpmouse
sh hpmouse activate
killall X
Then click High Performance mouse on the Internet Explorer iLO browser to enable use of the
high-performance mouse in iLO.
3. Set up the SAN environment
Multipath support
Linux Device Mapper Multipath can be used to provide multipath support for HP X5500 Storage
Gateway for Linux. For HP X5500 Storage Gateway for Linux customers, the Device Mapper Multipath
is installed and configured by default on HP X5500 Storage Gateway for Linux systems. See Appendix
B for more information.
Build custom kernels
See Appendix A for more information.
Configure the storage array
Perform the initial configuration of the storage array as described in the array product documentation.
