HP X5500 Storage Gateway for Linux provides binary kernels for SLES10 SP2. These kernels include
the vendor patches and HP X5500 Storage Gateway for Linux and FS Option for Linux patches. The
installation procedure, described later in this chapter, specifies when the binary kernel should be
installed.
For customers who need to build a custom kernel or compile third-party kernel modules, HP X5500
Storage Gateway for Linux also provides patched kernel sources.
Debug kernels are also provided for more advanced diagnostic purposes.
For each operating system, HP X5500 Storage Gateway for Linux provides a consolidated kernels
RPM, pmxs-<os>-kernels-3.7.0-<xxxx>.<arch>.rpm. The RPM includes the binary, source,
and debug kernels for that operating system.
Contents of the HP X5500 Storage Gateway for Linux
distribution
The HP X5500 Storage Gateway for Linux distribution contains the following files:
• pmxs-3.7.0-<xxxx>.<arch>.rpm.
• mxconsole-3.7.0-<xxxx>.x86_64.rpm. The Management Console and mx utility in RPM
format.
• mxconsole-3.7.0-<xxxx>.i586.rpm. The Management Console and mx utility in RPM
format.
• mxconsole_3.7.0.<xxxx>.x86.msi. The Management Console and mx utility in Microsoft
Windows format.
• pmxs-quota-tools-3.13-<xxxx>.<arch>.rpm. Linux quota commands modified for use
with the PSFS filesystem.
• pmxs-quota-tools-3.13-<xxxx>.src.rpm. Modified source files for the Linux quota com-
mands.
• mxsperfmon-3.7.0-<xxxx>.<arch>.rpm. The Performance Dashboard software.
The FS Option distribution includes these files:
• mxfs-3.7.0-<xxxx>.<arch>.rpm. The FS Option for Linux software.
• mxfs-<OS>-support-3.7.0-<xxxx>.<arch>.rpm. The FS Option support RPM.
• mxfs-cifs-3.7.0-<xxxx>.<arch>.rpm. The Samba deployment kit.
HP X5500 Storage Gateway for Linux kernels RPM
The HP X5500 Storage Gateway for Linux Quick Restore installs the HP X5500 Storage Gateway for
Linux kernels RPM:
# rpm –i pmxs-<os>-kernels-3.7.0-<xxxx>.<arch>.rpm.
A directory structure, /opt/polyserve/lib/kernels, is created that contains RPMs for the binary,
source, and debug kernels.
