HP StorageWorks Clustered Gateway (server/software bundle) CGW361 upgradekit upgrade guide (AG515-96017, September 2008)
NOTE:
The upgrade log files—360_unistall.log and 361_install.log—can be viewed at
C:\Program Files\Hewlett-Packard\HP Clustered File
System\conf\debug.
Upgrading subsequent nodes
After upgrading the node with the highest I P, upgrade the next highest IP node to HP Clustered G ateway
3.6.1 by following steps 1 – 5 above.
Post-upgrade steps
Performance dashboard
The HP Clustered File System 3.6.1 has an additional utility, Performance D ashboard, that gets installed
during the upgrade. Performance Dashboard provides performance information for the cluster, individual
servers, and PSFS filesystems. See the H P StorageWorks Clustered File System 3.6.1 ad ministration guide
for details about how to use this performance monitoring utility.
Changes necessitated by the upgrade
After upgrading to HP Clustered File System 3.6.1, you may need to make the following changes
to
your configuration:
• Upgrade filesystems for Alternate Data Streams (ADS)
• Upgrade filesystems for 8.3 s uppor t (only if 8.3 support is needed)
Upgrade filesystems for Alternate D ata Streams (ADS)
HP Clustered File S ystem 3.6.1 provides filesystem support for ADS. This support is enabled by default in
PSFS filesystems created on HP Clustered File System 3.6.1. PSFS filesystems created on HP Clustered
File System 3.6.0 or earlier releases must be upgraded to enable ADS support. When ADS support is
enabled on a filesystem, it cannot be later disabled.
The filesystem is upgraded with the psfscheck com m a nd, which enables this feature internally on the
filesystem. Consequently, a brief, cluster-wide outage of the filesystem is required during the upgrade.
(If 8.3 support is also needed, both features can be enabled at the same time as described in the
next section.)
To upgrade a PSFS filesystem for ADS suppor t, take the following steps:
1. Stop all app lications using the filesystem.
2. Run the following command at the Command Prompt (the command is shown on two lines
for readability ):
%SystemDrive%\Program Files\MatrixServer\bin\psfscheck -e enableads
<device>
The device can be specified in several ways:
• By the drive letter, such as X:
• By the mount point (junction), such as C:\san\vol2
• By the psd or psv name, such as psd2p2 or psv3
3. Restart the applications that use the filesystem.
