HP StorageWorks Clustered Gateway (server/software bundle) 3.6.1 Windows Storage Server Edition upgrade guide (AG515-96012, September 2008)
Chapter 2: Upgrade procedure 5
• HP Clustered File System now uses single sign-on authentication. The
admin user, the mxpasswd file, and the mxpasswd command are now
obsolete.
• The minimum size for a membership partition is now 1GB. If your
existing membership partitions are too small to accommodate the new
mxds datastore, which is included in the membership partitions, an
alert will be generated after the upgrade to 3.6. "Changes necessitated
by upgrade" section describes how to replace the existing membership
partitions.
Pre-Upgrade Tasks
• If you have CVEVA 5.0 in your environment, back up the file sssu.exe
from C:\Program Files\Hewlett Packard\Sanworks\Element Manager for
Storageworks HSV\Bridge.
• The server with the numerically highest primary IP address must be
upgraded first. Then continue to upgrade the servers in descending
order of IP address, with the server with the lowest primary IP
address being upgraded last.
• If a server is temporarily out of the cluster during the upgrade (for
example, for maintenance), you will need to upgrade it to 3.6.1 before
returning it to the cluster.
• The stand-alone HP CFS Management Console, which is used to
connect to the cluster from hosts not running the cluster software,
must be upgraded to the 3.6.1 version.
• Back up the contents of /etc/hosts file and note down the IP addresses
of all the NIC interfaces of the node. You will have to restore the same
network and hostname settings at a later stage during the upgrade
process.
• Shutdown the node and remove any Fibre Channel connections to the
node. You will have to restore the connections at a later stage during
the upgrade process
