HP StorageWorks Clustered Gateway (server/software bundle) 3.6.0 Windows Storage Server Edition Upgrade Guide (5697-7456, April 2008)
Chapter 2: Upgrade procedure 7
•The \conf\debug subdirectory
Do not back up the mounts and licenses subdirectories.
You will have to back up the \conf directory of each node in the cluster
before initiating the upgrade of that node. You will have to restore the
contents of the \conf directory at a later stage during the upgrade process.
Pre-Upgrade Tasks
• If you have CVEVA 5.0 in your environment, back up the file sssu.exe
from C:\Program Files\Hewlett Packard\Sanworks\Element Manager for
Storageworks HSV\Bridge.
• The server with the numerically highest primary IP address must be
upgraded first. Then continue to upgrade the servers in descending
order of IP address, with the server with the lowest primary IP
address being upgraded last.
• If a server is temporarily out of the cluster during the upgrade (for
example, for maintenance), you will need to upgrade it to 3.6.0 before
returning it to the cluster.
• The stand-alone HP CFS Management Console, which is used to
connect to the cluster from hosts not running the cluster software,
must be upgraded to the 3.6.0 version.
• Back up the contents of /etc/hosts file and note down the IP addresses
of all the NIC interfaces of the node. You will have to restore the same
network and hostname settings at a later stage during the upgrade
process. Also, if any changes have been made to network
parameters—such as teaming settings, TCP/IP parameters, and so
on—record these changes. You might need to restore these settings
after the upgrade.
• Shutdown the node and remove any Fibre Channel connections to the
node. You will have to restore the connections at a later stage during
the upgrade process
• Boot the node and press <F8> to enter the SmartArray configuration
menu. Delete all logical drives in the node.
