HP StorageWorks Clustered File System 3.6.1 Windows Storage Server Edition event notification guide (AG515 - 96011, August 2008)

Chapter 2: Overview 4
The message is also sent to the HP Clustered File System mxlogd process,
which takes these actions:
Sends the message to the event notifier services configured on the server.
If the message has been selected to trigger a notifier service, the
appropriate action will take place (send an SNMP trap, send email, or run
a script).
Sends the message to all servers in the cluster. The servers, including the
server where the event occurred, copy the message into their own cluster
logs.
If the mxlogd process was not running when the event occurred, there will be
a delay in transmitting the message to the event notifier services and to the
servers in the cluster.
The mxlogd process transmits the event message only one time. If a server is
down at the time of the transmission, the message will not appear in the
cluster log on that server.
View Event Logs
The cluster log is not intended to be read directly. Instead, use these methods:
The Cluster Event Viewer. This tool, available on the HP Management
Console, shows the messages in the cluster log on a particular server.
•The mx server viewevents command. This command is run from the
Command Prompt and allows you to filter the events in the cluster log on
the specified server. You can also limit the events displayed by the
command to a particular time range.
The HP Clustered File System mcs select command. This command is also
run from the Command Prompt and can display the entire cluster log or
only those portions that you specify.
The Cluster Event Viewer is described in the HP StorageWorks Clustered File
System Administration Guide. For information about the mx server viewevents
and mcs select commands, see the HP StorageWorks Clustered File System
Command Reference.
You can view the event messages written to the Windows event log by using
the Windows Event Viewer. Select Start > Programs > Administration Tools >
