TheSAN&FencingtaballowsyoutoselectthemethodthatHP
ClusteredFileSystemshouldusetoremoveaccesstotheSAN.
Therearetwofencingmethods:
FibreChannelswitchbasedfencing.Whenaserverneedstobe
fenced,HPClusteredFileSystemwilldisabletheserversaccessinthe
FibreChannelfabric.Theservermustberebootedtoregainaccessto
theSAN.Thismethodisalsocalledfabricbasedfencing.
Webmanagementbasedfencing.HPClusteredFileSystemusesremote
managementhardwareontheservertoremoveitsaccesstoPSFS
filesystems.Thismethodisalsocalledserverbasedfencing.
NotesRegardingFencing
Beforeconfiguringfencing,youshouldbeawareofthefollowing:
•IfyouwillbeusingtheFibreChannelVirtualInterconnectmoduleson
theHPCClassBladeSystem,youmustconfigurewebmangement
basedfencing.Switchbasedfencingcannotbeusedwiththese
modules.
•IfyouwillbeusingIPMI
interfaceswithwebmangementbased
fencing,youwillneedtochangethepasswordfromthefactory
default.Thefencingfeaturewillnotworkcorrectlyifthepasswordis
notchanged.
ISCSIstoragemustusewebmanagementbasedfencing.
NOTE: AfterHPClusteredFileSystemisconfigured,youcanverifythat
ithasthecorrectinformationtofence eachserver.See“Testthe
