TheSAN&FencingtaballowsyoutoselectthemethodthatHP
ClusteredFileSystemshouldusetoremoveaccesstotheSAN.
Therearetwofencingmethods:
• FibreChannelswitch‐basedfencing.Whenaserverneedstobe
fenced,HPClusteredFileSystemwilldisabletheserver’saccessinthe
FibreChannelfabric.Theservermustberebootedtoregainaccessto
theSAN.Thismethodisalsocalledfabric‐basedfencing.
Webmanagement‐basedfencing.HPClusteredFileSystemusesremote
managementhardwareontheservertoremoveitsaccesstoPSFS
filesystems.Thismethodisalsocalledserver‐basedfencing.
NotesRegardingFencing
Beforeconfiguringfencing,youshouldbeawareofthefollowing:
•IfyouwillbeusingtheFibreChannelVirtualInterconnectmoduleson
theHPC‐ClassBladeSystem,youmustconfigurewebmangement‐
basedfencing.Switch‐basedfencingcannotbeusedwiththese
modules.
•IfyouwillbeusingIPMI
interfaceswithwebmangement‐based
fencing,youwillneedtochangethepasswordfromthefactory
default.Thefencingfeaturewillnotworkcorrectlyifthepasswordis
notchanged.
• ISCSIstoragemustusewebmanagement‐basedfencing.
