•ModifytheSNMPsetup.Makethefollowingchanges:
–EnableaccesstotheSNMPagentfromeachserverthatwillbein
thecluster.
–SettheSNMPcommunitystringtothedesiredvalue.The
communitystringmustbethesameforallFibreChannelswitches.
Ifyouareusingfabricfencing,ensurethatthe
communitystring
haswriteprivileges.Forserver‐basedfencing,youcanoptionally
configurearead‐onlycommunitystring.
–OnBrocadeswitchesonly,runthe snmpMibCapSetcommandon
theswitch.Changethefamibsettingtoyesandacceptthedefault
valuesfortheothersettings.
•ForMcDATAswitches,domain‐wideRSCNsshould
bedisabled.
•Iftheserversareconnectedtoswitchesinmultiplefabrics,the
physicalportsoneachswitchmustbeassignedtouniquedomainIDs.
AdifferentdomainIDmustbeusedoneachfabric(anygivendomain
IDcanexistononlyonefabricintheSAN).Forexample,if
aserveris
connectedtotwoswitchesthatarenotinthesamefabric,switch1
couldusedomainID6andswitch2couldusedomainID7.Domain
ID6mustnotexistonthefabriccontainingswitch2anddomainID7
mustnotexistonthefabriccontainingswitch1.

thesetaskscanbeperformedfromtheFCswitchorfromthird‐
partyapplications.RefertoyourFCswitchorapplicationdocumentation
formoreinformation.
11. Create LUNs for the Membership Partitions and
Modify Partition Tables
HPClusteredFileSystemusesasetofmembershippartitionstocontrol
accesstotheSAN.Themembershippartitionsarealsousedtostorethe
devicenamingdatabase,whichincludestheglobaldevicenamesthatHP
ClusteredFileSystemassignstotheSANdisksplacedunderitscontrol.
HPClusteredFile
Systemcanuseeitheroneorthreemembership
partitions.Toensurethatamembershippartitionisalwaysavailable,we
stronglyrecommendthat youusethreemembershippartitions.
